It’s official. Chris Paul will be going back home to Los Angeles Clippers. His career will end in the same place it took off.

Why is this good for Paul?

Reportedly, Chris Paul’s wish for his next team would for it to be close to his family that resides in the LA area. So, this signing allows him to be with his family as he is aging and is starting to prioritize family over basketball. With the Clippers, he’ll likely have more playing time and will be able to compete for a starting spot in the rotation because of needed playmaking. Paul is also coming home to a completely new, revamped and arguably better roster than the Lob City Clippers. I also see Paul getting his jersey retired in LA. Cementing himself as one of the greatest players to ever be a Clipper.

So why is this good for the Clippers?

Chris Paul’s contract is worth $3.6M for one year. A very cheap contract for a high-level production player. Chris Paul gives the Clippers IQ, playmaking, veteran help, and guard depth. Pairing up Beal, Harden, and Paul in the backcourt will be a great trio in the backcourt. Last season, a 40-year-old Paul averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and a whopping 7.4 assists.

This year will be his last one in the NBA. Hopes are high for him. Will he cap his career off with a bang or will it be another let down season for the all-time great?
