New York Jets history & legends

The Jets began play in 1960 as the New York Titans, a charter member of the American Football League, and became the Jets in 1963. They joined the NFL in the 1970 merger and compete in the AFC East.

Super Bowl history

The Jets pulled off one of the most important upsets in football history in Super Bowl III. Days after Joe Namath publicly guaranteed a win, New York beat the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7, proving the AFL could compete with the NFL. The Jets have since reached the AFC Championship Game several times, including back-to-back trips after the 2009 and 2010 seasons, but Super Bowl III remains their only Super Bowl appearance.
