The Arizona Cardinals believe first-round pick Jeremiyah Love can help transform one of the NFL’s least productive rushing attacks, and Trey McBride already likes what he has seen.
Speaking on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, McBride offered a glowing early review of the No. 3 overall pick.
“That dude’s a f—— stud,” McBride said recently on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast. “He’s a stud, man. Just the few practices that we had together, his route running and his ability to f—— making plays is pretty cool. I’m excited to have him on our side for sure.”
Love arrives in Arizona after starring at Notre Dame, where he totaled 3,014 scrimmage yards and 40 touchdowns over his final two collegiate seasons while averaging 6.9 yards per carry. The Cardinals expect the dynamic rookie, alongside Tyler Allgeier and James Conner, to help revive a rushing attack that ranked 31st in the NFL last season.
While Love has generated excitement, Arizona’s quarterback situation remains less certain entering the 2026 season.
Veterans Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew lead the room, while third-round rookie Carson Beck is seen as a potential long-term option. McBride has also been impressed by Beck’s early development.
“He looks like a tight end,” he said. “I’m like s—, bigger than me, you know? But, no, he’s a stud. He throws the ball really well. I think he has a chance to be a really good player in this league.”
McBride added:
“I don’t know about [starting] Week 1 unless something crazy happens, but he definitely has a chance to be a guy for sure.”
The veteran tight end understands what it takes to be among the league’s best. Since 2024, McBride has totaled 237 receptions, 2,385 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns while earning two Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro honor. His production also helped him secure a four-year, $76 million contract extension with Arizona earlier this offseason.
Even after the record-setting payday, McBride’s focus remains on helping the Cardinals return to contention.
“When the opportunity presented itself to stay with Arizona and sign the record-breaking deal at the time, it was pretty cool to do,” McBride said. “I was all for it. I love Arizona, man, there’s nothing about the place that I hate. I obviously wish we won more games, but it’s a special place. I love being there. S—, hopefully we’ll turn it around.”
If McBride’s early assessment proves accurate, Love could become one of the key pieces in helping Arizona do exactly that.
