Philadelphia Eagles history & legends
The Philadelphia Eagles were founded in 1933 by Bert Bell, who later became NFL commissioner. Backed by one of the most passionate fan bases in sports, the Eagles compete in the NFC East.
Championship history
Philadelphia won NFL championships in 1948, 1949 and 1960. After the 2017 season, backup quarterback Nick Foles and the famous “Philly Special” trick play led the Eagles past the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII for the franchise’s first Super Bowl title. They added a second after the 2024 season, when Jalen Hurts was named MVP of a 40-22 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles also reached Super Bowl XV, Super Bowl XXXIX and Super Bowl LVII.
