The Buffalo Bills began play in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League and joined the NFL in the 1970 merger. Backed by one of the most loyal fan bases in sports, Bills Mafia, Buffalo competes in the AFC East.
Championship history
The Bills won back-to-back AFL championships in 1964 and 1965 with quarterback Jack Kemp. In the early 1990s, Buffalo did something no other team has done: reach four straight Super Bowls, from Super Bowl XXV through Super Bowl XXVIII. The Bills lost all four, including a 20-19 heartbreaker to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXV, but the K-Gun era remains one of the most celebrated runs in league history.

Biggest rivalries
The Miami Dolphins are Buffalo’s classic AFC East rival, and years of chasing the Tom Brady-era New England Patriots made that series personal. In recent years, a string of dramatic playoff meetings has turned the Kansas City Chiefs into one of Buffalo’s fiercest rivals.
