Packers Lock in Zach Tom with record OL signing bonus

The Green Bay Packers are securing the future of their offensive line by locking in a critical piece of their protection unit.

According to NFL Network, the Packers have agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract extension with starting right tackle Zach Tom. The deal reportedly includes a maximum value of $92 million and a $30.2 million signing bonus—the largest ever awarded to an NFL offensive lineman.

Tom, 26, is entering his fourth NFL season after being drafted by Green Bay in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Wake Forest. After appearing in nine games and making five starts as a rookie in 2022, Tom claimed the starting right tackle job in 2023 and has anchored that spot ever since.

Despite not yet earning a Pro Bowl nod, Tom has quietly become one of the Packers’ most reliable and versatile linemen. His durability and performance over the past two seasons have made him a top priority for the franchise as it continues to build around quarterback Jordan Love.

This new extension is a significant raise over the rookie deal Tom initially signed, which totaled just $4.16 million across four years. The massive signing bonus and guaranteed commitment now reflect Green Bay’s confidence in Tom as a long-term solution on the offensive line.

Love, also 26, is currently playing under a four-year, $220 million contract that runs through the 2028 season. Since taking over for Aaron Rodgers, he has led the Packers to consecutive playoff appearances, including a 2023 Divisional Round run. However, the 2024 campaign ended in disappointment, with Green Bay falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round.

With their quarterback and now their right tackle under contract for the foreseeable future, the Packers are positioned to push deeper into the postseason. Locking in Tom ensures continuity and protection as Green Bay aims to capitalize on Love’s prime years and contend for a Super Bowl.

Titans’ Rebuilt Offensive Line Faces Ferocious Pass Rush in 2025 NFL Opener

The Tennessee Titans have aggressively overhauled their offensive line in preparation for the 2025 NFL season, aiming to provide solid protection for No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. However, this new unit faces an immediate and brutal challenge in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, who led the NFL with a jaw-dropping 63 sacks in 2024—outpacing every other team by a wide margin (Jon Heath, Yahoo Sports).

To strengthen their trenches, the Titans signed left tackle Dan Moore Jr. to a four-year, $82 million contract with $50 million guaranteed (Reuters). Moore’s arrival allows JC Latham, last year’s first-round pick, to shift to his natural position at right tackle, thereby upgrading both edges of the offensive line. The team also brought in veteran Kevin Zeitler at right guard to provide leadership and consistency, while 2025 fifth-round draft pick Jackson Slater adds depth to the interior.

Despite these moves, the unit’s chemistry remains a concern. Center Lloyd Cushenberry III is returning from a season-ending Achilles injury and may not be fully up to speed. With multiple new pieces and Latham making his NFL debut at right tackle, the offensive line is still learning how to operate as one.

Meanwhile, the Broncos’ defensive front, coordinated by Vance Joseph, remains intact from last season and looks just as dangerous. Their top eight sack producers—including Nik Bonitto (13.5), Jonathon Cooper (10.5), and Zach Allen (8.5)—are all returning, making Denver’s pass rush arguably the most fearsome in the NFL.

For the Titans, this Week 1 contest isn’t just a game—it’s a stress test. If the offensive line can hold its ground against Denver’s elite defense, it would validate the aggressive offseason strategy. If not, it could be a rude awakening for Cam Ward and a wake-up call for Tennessee’s front office.
