As the NBA continues to garner buzz leading up to the February 5th trade deadline one team you can expect not to make any major moves this season is the San Antonio Spurs. Many fans would hope the Spurs make a trade but the team currently sits at the number 2 spot in the Western Conference Standings behind the OKC Thunder and feel this team is a legitimate threat to the reigning NBA Champions.

However, this doesn’t completely rule out a trade as the team is looking to fortify their bench alongside potential sixth man of the year candidate Keldon Johnson. Jeremy Sochan has been the only player linked to multiple teams including the Knicks, and the Brooklyn Nets as the team has taken the most calls on him.

The Spurs would prefer to wait until the off season to determine where the 26 Hawks swap lands and who potentially becomes available. Many expect Giannis’ name to be rumored through trade talks in the off season along with Lauri Markkanen, KAT and Austin Reaves almost certainly looking to capitalize on a big money extension.

The new look San Antonio Spurs have exceeded all expectations of the front office organization, and feel that they truly have a great opportunity to advance to the NBA Finals. Even if they fall short in the playoffs the organization feels they are in great position to amplify the results and expectations heading into the eventual off season.
