The New England Patriots are adding another weapon for quarterback Drake Maye. According to reports, former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has agreed to sign with New England in free agency, giving the Patriots a proven outside target as they continue reshaping their offense.

Doubs enters the move after four seasons with Green Bay, where he developed into a consistent producer on the perimeter. The 26-year-old receiver was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and steadily carved out a key role in the Packersโ€™ passing attack. Over the past three seasons, he recorded at least 600 receiving yards each year. In 2025, he finished with 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns while leading the team in receiving yardage.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the agreement Tuesday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The signing addresses a major need for New England. The Patriots entered free agency thin at the receiver position after moving on from several veterans and searching for reliable playmakers to support their young quarterback. Doubs fits that need as a boundary receiver capable of winning against man coverage and consistently moving the chains.

At 6-foot-2 and 204 pounds, Doubs has built a reputation as a dependable outside target. He has surpassed 2,400 career receiving yards and totaled 21 touchdowns during his time in Green Bay. While he has occasionally struggled with contested catches and intermediate drops, his ability to stretch the field and convert key first downs made him one of the more attractive wide receivers available on the market.

For Doubs, the move could represent a major opportunity. After functioning as a steady WR2 option in Green Bay, he now steps into a situation where he could become one of the focal points of New Englandโ€™s passing attack. If the Patriots feature him heavily alongside Maye, Doubs may have a clear path toward his first career 1,000-yard season in 2026.
