The Atlanta Falcons have secured one of their most experienced offensive linemen, agreeing to terms with right tackle Kaleb McGary on a two-year, $30 million contract extension. The team announced the deal on Monday, which keeps McGary under contract through the 2027 NFL season.

McGary, 30-years-old, was set to enter the final year of his previous deal with a $14.5 million base salary. Instead, Atlanta has now doubled down on its core group up front, extending its investment in a line tasked with protecting rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

Drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, McGary has served as the Falcons’ starting right tackle from day one. He’s appeared in 93 games, starting 92 of them across six seasons. Known for his durability and physicality, McGary has grown into a cornerstone of the team’s offensive identity.

He’ll now continue anchoring the right side of a familiar unit that includes Chris Lindstrom, Jake Matthews, and Matthew Bergeron — all returning starters. Ryan Neuzil will take over at center following the departure of Drew Dalman.

McGary’s role will be even more important in 2025 as he protects the blindside of left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr., the Falcons’ first-round pick and potential long-term franchise leader.

“I think he’s a special player,” said left tackle Jake Matthews, via the team’s official site. “[I] just respect him. Going into seven years with him, I really think he’s really improved a lot, and I’m expecting him to be solid and one of the staple guys on this offensive line.”

The Falcons are building around Penix with long-term stability up front, and this move reflects that focus. McGary’s extension further solidifies one of the most cohesive offensive lines in the NFC — and signals Atlanta’s intention to keep its core intact.
