Jaylen Brown Eyes UFC or Boxing Run After NBA Career

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown may not be done competing when his basketball career ends.
Speaking at NBA All-Star media day on Saturday, the five-time All-Star revealed he has considered stepping into the combat sports world once his time in the league is over. Brown even confirmed he has spoken with Dana White about the possibility.
“To be honest, I’ve toyed with this and I’ve talked to some people,” said Brown, who has training in Muay Thai. “Maybe post part of my career, I’d love to partake in something like UFC or even boxing. I’ve talked to Dana White about some stuff, but we’ll see as things go on. We’ll see.”
A Competitive Edge Beyond Basketball
Brown, 29, is coming off a resume-defining stretch that includes five NBA All-Star selections and the 2024 NBA Finals MVP award. Known for his physical conditioning and discipline, Brown has trained in Muay Thai during the offseason, sharpening footwork, balance and mental toughness.
The idea of crossing into MMA or boxing does not appear to be a publicity stunt. Brown framed it as something he has genuinely explored, though he emphasized that the timing would come only after his NBA career concludes.
Celtics Culture and Combat Influence
Head coach Joe Mazzulla is also an avid MMA enthusiast. Mazzulla has attended multiple UFC events and frequently uses fight footage as teaching material, reinforcing discipline, resilience and competitive focus inside the Celtics locker room.
With White openly supporting Boston sports, a post-NBA crossover would not be out of left field if Brown ultimately decides to pursue it.
For now, Brown remains focused on chasing another championship with the Celtics. But when his basketball journey ends, the Octagon β or the boxing ring β could represent his next arena.
